Nature Day: we give courage
We are Nature Day e.V. – we believe that a sustainable, just and inclusive future is possible for all generations.
We’ve been working together on this since April 2023 with a small team of experts from the areas of environmental action, civic participation, design, content creation, fundraising and more. Our aim is to create one day every year for people to experience environmental action, inclusive communities and the personal power to affect change.

Our values

Our mission
Our goal is a German-wide Nature Day that invites everyone to engage with environmental action, take part in inspiring projects, and together with like-minded people get inspired about a more sustainable lifestyle.
We want to bring everyone together: community organisations, businesses, educational institutions, municipalities and many more, to build an inclusive day of action for the environment and in future, mobilise one city and one country after the other.
Our philosophy
Inclusive: Everyone, regardless of gender, origin, language, skin colour, faith, sexual orientation or income, should be able to participate in sustainable change. Nature Day wants to give make the environment movement accessible to people who’ve not found a place for themselves in it but want to become active. To achieve this, we meet people where they are: in their own language, where they live and where their interests lie.

Participatory and empowering: participation feels good. We believe that everyone has an important part to play in protecting our planet. We want to reach out to people and demonstrate how active and effective participation by individuals can achieve great things and how we can change the world together.
Confident and inspiring: positive change is possible when you think positively. We want to open up a space to discuss negative feelings that the climate or biodiversity crisis can spark in us and at the same time identify effective solutions and motivate people to take positive action.
Respectful and affirmatory: We are not moralisers. We believe that everyone can make lasting change, play an important part and contribute to solutions.

Our starting point
The idea for Nature Day started in Spring 2023 in response to a number of political and social developments that marked a turning against the climate and environmental movements and immigration policies: the demise of global climate protests, the failure of the Berlin climate referendum, the events in Lützerath and more latterly the EU elections 2024.
The Nature Day team came together as a group in December 2023 to found a charitable association. It has been registered since 14 May 2024, is recognised as charitable and has its seat in Berlin. We currently work 100% on a voluntary basis.
